Bnei Akiva in Hungary
Bnei Akiva in Hungary was re-established four years ago and today it has more than one hundred members. The chanichim mainly come from one of the three Jewish schools in Budapest, but there are also kids from other (non-Jewish) schools and from Israel as well.
The main activities and programs are on Sunday. In these peulot we are mostly dealing with topics connected to Judaism, the history of the Jewish nation and the history of the State of Israel and Zionism using all various ways of the informal education. We are trying to go outside of the snif as much as we can, to have peulot and games in the nature and to go on hiking tours.
In the weekdays the club is open for the chanichim who are coming to learn, to play and to work on different Bnei Akiva projects.
At least once a month we have a collective Shabbat in the Synagogue of the snif, where we pray, eat and sing together. These Shabbats are very important because most of the chanichim and madrichim are coming from a non-religious environment and these are their only opportunities to experience a religious atmosphere.
In a year we have three camps, 2 in the summer and 1 in the winter. Every year at least once we are trying to have a trip to Israel as well. Last time we were in Israel at Sukkoth for two weeks.
